Tuesday Musing - I never attempt to make money on the stock market.

I never attempt to make money on the stock market. I buy on the assumption that they could close the market the next day and not reopen it for five years. - Warren Buffett

That mindset is one of the reasons why I personally do not prescribe to the indexing/ trading methodologies. On the off chance that the market shuts down like it did in the past I won't have to worry about not being about to receive my dividends Because my partnership is not with the market but with each individual business that I own a piece of.

It's not so much that the market will close forever, its that I don’t want to rely on a strategy that requires me to have to sell a stock at a certain amount to maintain my living standards.

The goal for me is to buy pieces of decent to great businesses or assets so that I can suck the cash that they generate to fund more investments and my living needs.
